Picked up my travel money today and the lady gave me $100 notes...! >.< I asked for more 20s but she said she couldn't do that. Is it weird to have $100 notes?! I feel like that's the equivalent of £50 notes - they exist but no one ever actually uses them.

I just had a look, $100 notes seem to be widely accepted and most retailers should be happy to give change even if you just make a small transaction.

I know when my sister was last going to the UK, the currency exchange at the airport swapped a couple of £50s for £20s, so maybe you could try that if it would make you feel any better. It's interesting how countries are different, like a €50 here is very, very normal, whereas I know £50 isn't in the UK.

Thanks Muir. That is reassuring.

I might try to get some changed up at the airport. Worth a try. Or if we have a big group meal or something I'll use them up then and everyone can give me their small change, haha.

It is interesting, isn't it. I think I've seen a £50 note only once in my life!

My grandad had one but I don't know why and he showed it to my sister and me when we were quite young. I remember it being pink!
